Conservation

Do you have a collection of old family documents and photographs at home?

Advice

Our conservation staff are always happy to offer advice on how to best store and care for these documents. You can contact us by email, telephone or mail to discuss your records; if necessary we can arrange a consultation.

Purchase storage and packaging material

Storing materials correctly is a big step towards ensuring their preservation for the future. Purchasing a small amount of packaging materials for personal use can be expensive. The Glamorgan Record Office therefore offers these items for sale. Full details of the range stocked, along with the prices can be found below. Please contact us to arrange purchase.

Outside work

Glamorgan Record Office is fortunate to have the services of a full time conservator, along with a team of preservation staff. We are more than happy to share this expertise with outside organisations who are not in a position to conduct conservation or preservation work 'in-house'.
There are currently limitations on this work due to the on-going packaging project underway in preparation for a move to new premises. Nevertheless we will strive to offer advice as best we can in these circumstances. Queries should be directed to Michael Hodgson, Conservator at Glamorgan Record Office

Once we have moved to our new premises, we will expand the external conservation services we offer.
