Appointments
There is no need to make an appointment to visit the Archives.

Refreshments
In our foyer area there is a vending machine for hot and cold drinks and snacks. There are also seats where you are welcome to take a break from your research and eat your own food.
The Archives is a five minute walk away from a retail park where there are several cafes and sandwich bars.

Registration
To use the Glamorgan Archives searchroom you will need to register as a searcher on your first visit. We will ask you for some personal details, including home address and telephone number, and about your research; your photograph will also be taken.
To complete registration you will be asked to agree to our searchroom rules and to provide two forms of identification, one which includes proof of your name (e.g. driving licence, bank/credit card, passport) and another which shows proof of your address (e.g. utility bill, council tax bill, official document/letter- this should be dated within the last three months). If you are unable to produce such documents, for whatever reason, please speak to a member of staff who will help you find a way to use our service.
Having registered, you will be issued with a registration card which you will need to bring with you whenever you visit the Archives
Data Protection Act 1998 the information provided will not be passed to anyone else and will be kept for internal purposes only.
Lockers
Lockers are provided for personal belongings such as coats, bags and briefcases as they must not be taken into the searchroom.
Pencils
Please bring a pencil with you as pens cannot be used in the Searchroom.
Use of cameras
You are welcome to use your own digital camera to take photographs of documents as long as you ask the Duty Archivist first and fill in a personal photography form.
Use of laptops
Public access computers are available for searchers to use and you are welcome to use your own laptops. The Archives has wifi access. |
