Travelling to Cardiff
by coach or train
The Glamorgan Record Office is a short Taxi ride
(10 mins) or a 20-25 minute walk from Cardiff Central
train station and the coach/bus station (which are
next door to each other).
From
Cardiff Central Station there is a frequent train
service which stops at Cathays Station (Enquiries:
08457 484950). (see map above)
There are also bus services: the No 27 service leaves
from stand D3 in front of Cardiff Central Station,
and the No 53 service leaves from nearby Westgate
Street (Enquiries: 0870 6082608).
Taxis are located outside the main entrance to the
train station (turn right as you enter the main
foyer from the platform, and proceed through the
sliding doors at the far end of the foyer).
To walk from Cardiff Central the best route is to
exit onto Central Square, taking the right hand
side of the pedestrian area to Wood Street. Then
proceed along St Mary Street to High Street. Then
turn right onto Duke Street, and follow the road
around to Kingsway, past the Castle Gate Building.
Then bear right past the Hilton Hotel/Razzi Bar
towards the pedestrian crossing. Cross over Greyfriars
Road and take the underpass which will bring you
out by City Hall. The road to the left (King Edward
VII Avenue) will take you past The Crown Court,
Police Station and University Registry, and will
lead you to the Glamorgan Building. Access to the
Record Office is along the left-hand side of the
building; the door to the office is near the back
of the building.
